ReleaseOps: Deploy Custom Apps and Update Sets Reliably and Quickly
We’re excited by the strong interest in ReleaseOps and are currently onboarding new application installs through a short waitlist to ensure the best initial experience for each customer. Our team is working swiftly to grant access and will reach out as soon as ReleaseOps is available to you.
ReleaseOps helps overcome the complexity of deploying software updates safely and at scale. It’s built to automate manual steps while still maintaining control. ReleaseOps will assist in policy and quality control compliance, improve visibility, and promote confidence, so that you can deploy code changes consistently.
At its core, ReleaseOps introduces structured deployment workflows that guide your ServiceNow application updates from development to production. These workflows are powered by Releases and Deployment Requests, which serve as the foundation for managing Update Set–driven deployments across ServiceNow instances.
Pipelines automate the movement of code between instances and allow ReleaseOps to enforce organizational standards through customizable integrations that may include:
- Instance Scan
- Automated Test Framework (ATF)
- Change Management
To ensure visibility and deployment success, ReleaseOps generates Deployment Tasks when issues are detected, assigning them to the right developers or stakeholders for resolution before the deployment proceeds. Teams benefit from the flexibility to follow a controlled release cadence, while retaining the agility to fast-track hotfixes or urgent security patches on demand.
Throughout the process, ReleaseOps delivers full transparency with real-time status updates, progress tracking, and detailed notes, keeping developers, release managers, and stakeholders aligned.
- Supports the retrieve, preview, commit workflow of moving Update Sets in "Deployment Requests" to target instances.
- Supports movement of published apps.
- Includes a deployment analysis tool that inspects the contents of a Deployment Request to identify potential issues for early resolution.
- Allows the integration and enforcement of business requirements around best practices, approvals, testing, and code quality to improve deployment reliability.
- Integrates Instance Scan, ATF, and Change Management.
- Supports creation of scheduled Releases that can aggregate multiple app updates into one workflow, as well as "on-demand" Releases to get app updates into production ASAP.
- Generates and assigns Deployment Tasks that resolve or reconcile potential deployment issues prior to release, to improve deployment reliability.
New Features & Enhancements
Faster Multi-Instance Communication
Deployment operations that communicate between instances (pulling update sets, running tests, checking instance status) now use synchronous messaging instead of polling. This reduces latency during deployments and makes the overall deployment request lifecycle faster and more responsive.

- PRB0799063 — commit_time is invalid when generating an info record during the release
Security & Access Control
- PRB0837079 — Add query range ACL records for remote deployment request table
- PRB0849539 — Remove itil role from ReleaseOps roles
- PRB0798923 — Pull update set failure shows incorrect information for users without update set access

- ServiceNow Australia release
- Three or more instances (development, test, production, or similar) - two instances can technically function but is unsupported
- Customize ReleaseOps pipelines to move changes from development to production through as many instances as needed for your ReleaseOps ecosystem.
- Schedule releases or deploy changes on-demand.
- Automate the testing and validation process with ReleaseOps to ensure that the proper checks, tests, scans, and approvals are completed before releasing changes to production.
